The most important warning and precaution related to Zoloft is that taking Zoloft can cause an increased risk for suicidal thinking or behavior. The next important warning is not to take this medication for bipolar disorder, as its symptoms are similar to those of depression. If you are on an MAOI drug, or if you have taken in the last two weeks, you should not take Zoloft medication. Antidepressants can cause serotonin syndrome, which is dangerous. If you take Zoloft with a medicine that affects serotonin, it can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Triptans or migraine medications and many other medications may cause the same effect. Get in touch with your doctor if you experience any symptom of serotonin syndrome which include hallucinations, confusion, fast heartbeat, fever, feeling faint, muscle spasms, sweating, diarrhea or difficulty walking.
